Below is a posting by Datuk Marina Mahathir in her blog commenting a remark made by one of our Minister regarding women bloggers. It was quoted in our national Chinese daily but not in the other papers.
I hope the Minister was misquoted. If not, I think it is not right for him to make such a statement. I believe there are plenty of honest bloggers around.

My fellow blogger Elizabeth Wong posted this unbelievable bit of foot-stomping by our Tourism Minister. My, my, what a generalisation-full rant! How's this from a supposedly sober person in high office:
"Bloggers are liars. They use all sort of ways to cheat others. From what I know, out of 10,000 unemployed bloggers, 8,000 are women.
“Bloggers like to spread rumours, they don’t like national unity. Today our country has achievements because we are tolerant and compromising. Otherwise we will have civil war. "
What leadership! What rational statements! And on International Women's Day, women bloggers are defamed as liars and cheats. Fabulous!

Ermm....kelalu endar ga statement Minister nya....if 50% of his voters are these people kada enda lain tune statement ianya. I don't know where they get these facts and figures.....ermmm...bisi ari ngiga endur ngirup kitai di Kuching tok berandau kaban :)

I can't believe my eyes when I read the statement that a minister made in a local media calling bloggers liars esp women. I am an honest blogger so what should I do? or maybe he was referring to Malaysian and not Singapore bloggers.

i was shocked too and i really hope he was misquoted. i cannot believe a MINISTER can make such wild allegations.
as for honest bloggers around (like you), keep on blogging. if we let statements like this stop us, then we have lost the 'war'.
